WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Marshfield boys soccer team grabbed a huge road win at Wisconsin Rapids on Tuesday, winning the Wisconsin Valley Conference matchup 3-0.

Leo Steiner, Hunter McManus and Jake Limmex scored for the Tigers, who improve to 7-6-2 overall and 2-3-1 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference. Wisconsin Rapids is now 3-3-2 and 2-2-2 in the conference.

The win is the Tigers’ first at Wisconsin Rapids in six seasons.

“Defensively our fullbacks on the outside did a great job tonight of shutting them down,” Marshfield coach Steve McCann said. “Thomas Kruger filled in and did an outstanding job on the left side and Tyler Andres and Brandon Meyer on the right side.

“Our finishing can still improve but we are making good progress in this area.”

Marshfield plays at D.C. Everest on Thursday.
