Charlotte Merwin enjoys the change of seasons and the friendly people in Marshfield.

A weekly feature, “Get to know your neighbor” is a chance to learn more about the residents of Marshfield. If you would like to be considered as the subject of future profiles, please email the editor, Adam Hocking at ahocking@mmclocal.com. Put “Get to know your neighbor” in the subject line, and provide a short explanation of why you would like to be featured.

This week Marshfield resident Charlotte Merwin is featured. Merwin is the owner of the Pink Zebra Boutique in the Marshfield Mall.

Hub City Times: Where are you from originally?

Merwin: Originally from Florida.

HCT: Really? So how did you end up here?

Merwin: My husband’s family. We decided to move up here, change of scenery. My husband’s family is from here. So that’s why we chose to move to Marshfield.

HCT: When did you relocate to Marshfield?

Merwin: We actually relocated four years ago to here.

HCT: What is the nature of your work?

Merwin: I actually own the Pink Zebra Boutique in Marshfield Mall. We carry 57 local artists that make their product here in the local community.

HCT: What kinds of things do you guys sell?

Merwin: We have a bakery. We also have a pet boutique as well as we carry wood-crafted items, handmade items. We also make custom T-shirts, signs, banners, business cards.

HCT: Are you guys relatively new?

Merwin: We’ve been here since May. We’re in the old Tea Shop location.

HCT: How is business?

Merwin: Business is actually doing very well. I’m quite surprised. I think a lot of it is part because we’re in the old Tea Shop location. So a lot of people come and check us out.

HCT: What were you doing prior to Pink Zebra?

Merwin: I was actually the bakery manager for Festival Foods.

HCT: What do you like about being in the Marshfield Community?

Merwin: I like the fact that everybody’s friendly. It’s a nice, quaint, small community. It’s something different that you can explore the different seasons here versus in Florida it’s hot or it’s cold. Just being in a small community is really neat, especially in Wisconsin because I never experienced the Dairy State before, and we go to a lot of pancake breakfasts. Checking different things out in the community is awesome.

HCT: Do you have a favorite place to go out to eat or a favorite thing to do in Marshfield?

Merwin: I think our favorite place to eat is the Blue Heron (Brewpub). Really all we do is work and go home and spend a lot of time with family.
